Test confirmed

Today I received a phone call from Dr. Southwick confirming that I do have Osteopenia. She wants to put me on FOSAMAX but now I need to get my blood work done so she can check my Vitamin D level. GGGRRRRRRR I don't want to be on any medication!!! So for now I will continue taking my calcium supplements and walking my 2.5 miles a day. Until next time.

I've learned . . .

I've learned....That the less time I have to work, the more things I get done. I've learned....That the Lord didn't do it all in one day What makes me think I can? I've learned....That to ignore the facts does not change the facts. I've learned...That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved. I've learned...that it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular. I've learned.... That money DOES NOT buy class!! I've learned....That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for. I've learned....That life is like a roll of toilet paper ... The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

A.A.A.D.D.

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Coke is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my e ye--they need water. I put the Coke on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers .I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail...Do me a favor. Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

Dr appt/future surgery

Today Moyd drove me to SLC for my Dr appt at the U of U. I went to see a Urology Specialist, looks like I will be having surgery sometime in November. The surgery date will be set in 2 weeks when I return for another Dr visit. I will be off work for 4 weeks, I really feel guilty for getting this done because we are so short handed at my place of employment. But I need to take care of myself also or my problem could turn into something more serious. Thank you Moyd for driving me. . .there is just too much traffic for me.

Oh Cassie!

Yesterday Cassie had 7 teeth pulled. . .4 Wisdom and 3 Molars that were in her cheek bone. Just remember. . .NO sucking on a straw and NO spitting. WE WISH YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY! ( THE PATIENT REQUESTED THAT THE PHOTO BE REMOVED)

Happy Birthday Tommy

Today, in the year 1962, my little brother Thomas Arnold Spring was born . He lived only 12 hours, I was not quite 4 years old so I don't remember why or how he died. The only pic I have of him is when he was in his casket. However, I do remember attending the funeral. Tommy, I'm sure the reunion you had with Dad and Mom was a great one. . .I bet Dad has taken you fishing and Mom has cooked you Macaroni and Cheese! We love and miss you Thomas!!!

Test

Today I went to Salt Lake to have a Bone Density Test. I snook a look at the unoffical test results and it said that I have Osteopenia. What is osteopenia? Osteopenia refers to bone mineral density (BMD) that is lower than normal peak BMD but not low enough to be classified as osteoporosis. Bone mineral density is a measurement of the level of minerals in the bones, which indicates how dense and strong they are. If your BMD is low compared to normal peak BMD, you are said to have osteopenia. Having osteopenia means there is a greater risk that, as time passes, you may develop BMD that is very low compared to normal, known as osteoporosis. What causes osteopenia? Bones naturally become thinner as people grow older because, beginning in middle age, existing bone cells are reabsorbed by the body faster than new bone is made. As this occurs, the bones lose minerals, heaviness (mass), and structure, making them weaker and increasing their risk of breaking. All people begin losing bone mass after they reach peak BMD at about 30 years of age. The thicker your bones are at about age 30, the longer it takes to develop osteopenia or osteoporosis. Some people who have osteopenia may not have bone loss; they may just naturally have a lower bone density. Osteopenia may also be the result of a wide variety of other conditions, disease processes, or treatments. Women are far more likely to develop osteopenia and osteoporosis than men. This is because women have a lower peak BMD and because the loss of bone mass speeds up as hormonal changes take place at the time of menopause. In both men and women, the following factors can all contribute to osteopenia: *Eating disorders or metabolism problems that do not allow the body to take in and use enough vitamins and minerals *Chemotherapy, or medications such as steroids used to treat a number of conditions, including asthma *Exposure to radiation *Having a family history of osteoporosis, being thin, being white or Asian, getting limited physical activity, smoking, regularly drinking cola drinks, and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol also increase the risk of osteopenia and, eventually, osteoporosis.

EEEEKKKKK

This morning as I was headed to the garage I spotted this HUMONGUS Spider at the bottom of the stairs (inside the house) guess its time to spray!!!. I saved this lovely little creature for Moyd as he HATES Spiders.

Like a kid at Christmas

Friday nite I was so excited, knowing that in the morning I was going hunting for my very first ANTELOPE! I couldn't fall asleep, just like a little kid at christmas. By the time I did fall asleep, it was time to WAKE UP and go HUNTING. We had been out about 45 min when Moyd spotted the ANTELOPE all by itself. So we walked down the hill, I sat down on the ground. . .aimed. . .pulled the trigger and I MISSED!!! It kinda ran a little ways then stopped and just waited. I moved to some sage-brush to where I could rest the gun on it and layed down. . .aimed. . .pulled trigger and HIT IT. . .I heard the THUMP and down it went. It was about a 150 yard shot. When we got over to it, we could see where the first bullet GRAZED the right shoulder, it took some hair off! I hit it in the left shoulder, but hey, at least I hit it. I got ahold of my favorite TAXIDERMIST to see if he could squeeze me in and he had to think about it for a minute, but of course, he said yes. lol. I think I will have it mounted as a pedistal mount and put it where Moyds elk is hanging. We are going to make jerky out of the meat and smoke it in our new smoker.

Anniversary

Today is my son Jason and Julie's Anniversary. Hope you have a great day and many more years to come! We love you.

Aunt Bev

Saturday, Sept 6 2008 my mom's youngest sister Beverly passed away. One thing I remember about Bev was one year she attended our SPRING FAMILY Christmas party, she came with duct tape over her mouth so she wouldn't talk so much! She made the best CARAMELS ever, and she always gave each family a tin full at Christmas time. She was so 'sparkly and bubbly'. We will miss you Aunt Bev. . .I know you are having a GLOURIOUS REUNION with all of our loved ones up above!

Moyds vacation accomplishments

This past week Moyd was on vacation and I just had to join him. . .only I was sick with bronchitis. In the weeks time he managed to put together an Elk and Moose headmount, finished off the insides of the windows in the living room, made a cute little foot-bridge to go over my flower-bed (which now I need to redo the flowers AGAIN) along with a little dry creek bed. He also extended the eves on the garage to cover the front steps, as they are very icy in the winter. Hope this will prevent that this year. He accomplished quite alot in a week, as well as myself. . .I got a much needed R&R so I could get back to work. It's so nice to have someone who is so talented and loves to build things!
